Product Description
This versatile, high quality Anchor accommodates beach umbrellas, fishing rods and other camping - sporting equipment in the ground. The lower shaft provides a cross bar, which in conjunction with the auger - spiral flange, eases the insertion of the lower umbrella pole shaft into the sand that results in enhanced stability.

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for   February 15, 2009

I needed an oversized anchor to hold a larger umbrella. It is goes deeper into the sand and accomodates the fatter umbrella pole. Much lighter that the older metal anchors. It is a little harder to get started in the sand but well wlrth the extra effort.

Bought two for vacation. They works great. Easy to screw into sand and remove. Large enough hole to hold any size umbrella. Has screw to tighten umbrella.

I bought this anchor for a beach vacation. One of the days my family spent at the beach was really windy and a lot of the other umbrellas on the beach where flying away on people, but not ours! People walked by asking why our umbrella was staying put and we told them, they were impressed, some of the people actually went and found it at a store on the boardwalk to use with their umbrella too! I like the "thick" treads on the cork screw better then the wirery treads on other more expensive brands. Very impressed and happy with my purchase.

We've used this two times already at the beach in NJ and it's held up well in strong wind. Of course, it helps to have a good umbrella to go with this (one with a 'vent' at the top.) It's made of a thick, durable plastic and the anchor does just what you think it would, allowing any size umbrella to go deep into the sand. It's easy to twist in and then pop your umbrella into the hole and tighten the screw for a perfect fit. Make sure you have good beach conditions (i.e. wet sand deeper down) otherwise you won't get a good grip.

I ended up buying this before I purchased any other beach supplies so I only purchased one to test it out. We had 3 umbrellas and I wish I had purchased 2 more of these anchors. We had sporadic winds which actually flipped one of the umbrellas and pulled it out of the ground but the one that was anchored never moved. We also used the anchor as a "drill" for the other 2 umbrellas since the back-and-forth method wasn't working so well. I definitely recommend this product.
