Best beach umbrella! March 30, 2008 E. Hagan (NE Ohio) 14 out of 17 found this review helpful
My Solartek umbrella is labeled: Windbrella, but it looks just like this one and is made with UV protection material.
I bought this last summer and highly recommend it, especially for anyone who sunburns easily, but loves the beach. This helped keep me from burning, and kept me cooler than a regular cloth umbrella.
There were a few other UV protection umbrella products that I researched, including various cabana types. This one seemed the most practical and useful for me for the price. If you need something for more than one or two people to use, this isn't it. Keep in mind, though, that those cabanas may irritate other beach goers on a busy beach since they will block the view.
I also bought a sand anchor which I highly recommend. I had no problem screwing it into the sand myself - just follow the directions. The anchor eliminates worry when the wind picks up or the need to reposition if it changes direction. I admit I haven't tried to screw it into my yard at home - I imagine this might not work very easily.
I also got a cool table that fits on the anchor. If you can go the extra cost, this proved very convenient to hold drinks and food and other things off the sand.
The umbrella sets up remarkably quickly (even with the table). It also breaks down easily, slides right into its carrier bag and takes up little space for storage in garage or car. It is light enough for even my 6 year old to sling over a shoulder and carry back from the beach.
This is more expensive than a lot of beach umbrellas you will find online or in stores. However, it is made well and appears very durable. I priced it at as many online locations as possible (wasn't available at any local store). It wasn't listed at Amazon then so I bought it at another site after comparing prices - make sure you figure in shipping. You may be able to find it locally now that its been out for a while. (I love you, Amazon, but price is price these days.)
Considering the rising cost of beach rental, (if the rental people are even around), as well as the UV protection, and if you are interested in skin health and beach comfort, in my opinion this is *well worth the cost*.
Sooooo Cool November 22, 2007 Marsha Herron (Salisbury MD) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the first beach umbrella I've ever had and I wonder why I didn't use one before. I can't attest to its superiority over others but I think it would have to be better with the material, color, and ability for the wind to pass through. Anyway, I love it and it should save a lot of people from burning or worse from the sun. Everyone should get one!
a must have October 15, 2008 B. Hudson (MO. USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was needing an umbrella for the lifeguards at our pool and this fit the bill just fine. it can handle the wind perfectly along with the ability to be adjusted to diffrent angles this was a very good choice for us.

Worked great - may buy a second one for next year December 8, 2008 J. M. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This worked exactly as advertised. There were lots of this same model on the beach in Cape Cod this summer. Just make sure you have a sturdy anchor to insert the umbrella into.
