Product Description This versatile, high quality anchor for beach umbrellas, fishing rod and other camping and sporting equipment in the ground. The lower shaft is further optionally provided with a cross bar, which in addition to the auger or spiral flange, eases insertion of the lower shaft of the umbrella into the sand that results in enhanced stability.

Best anchor that I have used July 26, 2009 Stephen M. Charme (Cranford, NJ United States) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This anchor is in a class by itself. The typical sand anchor sold in a drugstore or beach store is about a foot tall, and the umbrella shaft goes in about 11 inches. But the Sand Anchor is over two feet tall, and the umbrella shaft goes in 24 inches. The Sand Anchor is also much more secure when inserted deep into the beach--I was not able to remove it when I was ready to leave except by inserting the handle and turning it in reverse.
Because of its design, the handle is not permanently attached as on a smaller anchor, so you have to make sure that you don't lose or misplace it. When I am storing the Sand Anchor at home I keep the handle attached to the side with a thick rubber band, and when I am using it at the beach, I keep the handle in my beach bag.
Because the Sand Anchor is much thicker and buried much more deeply than a typical anchor, it would take a really fierce wind to uproot it--and you would be long gone from the beach if the weather was like that. For ordinary windy days at the beach the Sand Anchor cannot be beat. I use this in the soft sand at the New Jersey shore, and the Sand Anchor will dig deep to where the sand is compressed. This is particularly impressive because you don't need a rubber mallet to pound it in--just simple twisting and "elbow grease."
I recommend this unit for anyone who wants to stop worrying about their beach umbrella flying off on a windy day (I was able to keep my umbrella open when most other people had to close theirs).
For what this does, I don't think that the price is expensive at all. For an extra 5 to 10 dollars (depending on what you pay for a standard sand anchor) you get peace of mind that you won't accidentally hurt someone else at the beach with your umbrella. That sounds like a good deal to me.

I go to a very sandy camp ground once a year for a week long event. This sand anchor was easy to use and easy to remove. It held the umbrella steady and stayed pretty much in place. I recommend it!

Excellent product at a good price and delivered on time - performs as advertised - anchored a 9' market umbrella on a fairly windy beach for a week with no problems

Easy to use and very sturdy. Held our eight foot beach umbrella steady in moderate to brisk sea breezes. No problem!

I kept having the problem of my umbrella blowing away at the beach but not anymore.... this thing works GREAT! I've had it for about 3 months and used it about 6 or 7 times at the lake and the ocean and have had no problems with it.
